Mule significa letteralmente ciabattina, perché è un tipo di scarpa che lascia completamente libero il tallone, ma al di là delle apparenze non ha niente a che vedere con una pantofola da casa. Anzi. Le mule sono sempre state preziose: in broccato o in velluto nel ‘600, con il tacco alto e la tomaia da babbuccia nel ‘700, in satin nell’800, praticamente onnipresenti nel ‘900: tacchi altissimi e fogge da divina negli anni ’50; etniche negli anni ’80 e da sera, tempestate di paillette e perline, negli anni ’90. Dall’estate 2002, sono tornate di gran moda.
