J. Arlington Valles è l’unico costumista hollywoodiano che abbia vestito esclusivamente star maschili. Oscar nel ’60 per i costumi di Spartacus di Stanley Kubrick. Curò in particolare gli attori della Mgm, quali Fred Astaire (Ti amavo senza saperlo, ’48) e William Powell. Molto apprezzati i suoi costumi d’epoca per Il ritratto di Dorian Gray (1945), Madame Bovary (versione del ’49), La saga dei Forsyte (’49) con Errol Flynn.
